Puma, il gigante europeo dello sport controllato da PPR, ha chiuso lo scorso 30 settembre un trimestre negativo con gli utili netti che si sono rivelati in caduta libera dell’85% a 12,2 milioni di euro a causa di un incremento di quasi il 10% dei costi operativi. Molto probabilmente questo significherà da quanto è trapelato dalle parole dell’ Amministratore Delegato Franz Koch, la chiusura di 80 store. Le vendite nel trimestre , invece, sono state positive per un +6% (+0,5% a valute costanti) a 892,2 milioni di euro. A perdere terreno è principalmente l’Europa infatti nel periodo, il gruppo tedesco dello sportswear ha accusato un -3,4% nell’area Europa-medio Oriente e Africa, un +20,5% nelle Americhe e un +8,3% in Asia. Buona performance degli accessori, cresciuti oltre il 20%, mentre il footwear (+2,5%) e l’abbigliamento (+5,6%) sono risultati meno performanti.
Il gruppo sta ponendo in essere iniziative decisive per far reagire il mercato europeo.Per ritrovare l’utile la strada ricercata è quella del taglio dei costi, che permetteranno di garantire una solida base produttiva, per raggiungere un’altrettanto solida crescita negli anni a venire. Il marchio tedesco di sport, che ha nominato negli scorsi giorni Jean-François Palus nuovo presidente dell’administrative board del brand, chiuderà progressivamente circa 80 punti vendita, principalmente nei mercati considerati maturi (si legga Europa), arrivando entro la fine del 2013 a contare 540 store nel mondo, contro i 590 attuali.
